This month we will be continuing with Europe and Impressionist Artists. The children are really enjoying learning about this continent and the Impressionist artists who came from there. Thank you to everyone who brought artifacts for the children to see and feel.

CHINESE NEW YEAR

Chinese New Year

According to Chinese astrology, Thursday February 7th 2008 is the Year of the Rat. People born in rat years are ambitious and charming. Famous Rats include William Shakespeare, Mozart, George Washington, and Plato. We will be celebrating the Chinese New Year in class with some Chinese snacks.

CLASS OBSERVATIONS

We hope that you are enjoying observing your child(ren) and the rest of the class during the observations. Parents please note that if all the slots for classroom observations are full, we can still fit you in. Just let us know which day works well for you and we can arrange for you to come and observe your child in class.

RE-REGISTRATION FOR 2008 & 2009 SCHOOL YEAR

Yes, it’s almost that time of year again, where important decisions need to be made about the next school year. Re-registration packages will be handed out on Wednesday, February 6th and need to be returned by Friday, February 15th. If you have any questions about the package, please do not hesitate to talk to Mrs. Javer.

PARENT WORKSHOP #2

We will be holding our 2nd workshop for parents on Monday, February 25th from 6:00-7:30 at Tiny Town Montessori Preschool. This workshop is a continuation from the first one and will focus on Language, Math, and Culture areas of the classroom. All Parents are strongly urged to attend and please note that we need a minimum of 10 parents to go ahead with this workshop. Please RSVP to the classroom teacher by Friday February 22nd.

VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY

We will be having a Valentine’s Party on Thursday, February 14th during class

time. We would like the parents to bring in food items on this day. We strongly    encourage parents to be creative with the food & bring some healthy items for the class the children really do prefer the healthy foods. Please remember our No Nut Policy. Also, to reduce wastage, you can bring enough food for about 5 children, as we always have more than enough food.

Also, with your food item, we would like you to write a poem, note, or saying, nicely decorated, about children in general and how special they are. These notes will be read to the children before the party and then will be posted on our bulletin board for everyone to read. We think this will add a nice touch to our party and make the children feel special

If your child will be passing out Valentine Cards, then please have your child write their own name on the card (if they are able to), as opposed to all their friends names, as this makes the process of handing out Valentine Cards in class a lot easier. There are 24 children in each classPlease note that we will not hand out any candy related items from parents to hand out to the children

PM CLASS FIELDTRIP

The afternoon class will be going to the Big Hill Seniors Lodge to do some singing & dancing for the seniors on Monday, February 11th. After, the children will enjoy a snack of cupcakes/cookies and juice with the seniors.
